The Wait You Absolutely Need to Lose
One day last week, I spent most of one day, waiting. I was flying back from out of town and of course had to wait in the security lines, wait for the plane, wait on the plane for clearance for take-off and then wait in the air for a cleared runway to land, wait to get baggage, wait for ground transportation and then wait again when the first ground transportation had a mechanical issue and another was summoned.
Observing the actions of others waiting, it appeared even when engaged in some activity with their phones or even reading, they appeared bored, fatigued and disengaged. Waiting was something we all had to deal with but really not what we chose.
I see many clients who comment even early on in coaching how they wish they would not have waited to take the steps they are now taking to change their career path. But, many admit, waiting was once the only thing they did.
There are times we must wait; sitting in a doctor’s office, for results from diagnostic testing, in traffic, for college admission acceptance, having a car repaired, but PROCRASTINATION is not WAITING.
Waiting should be for a point in time and not for an indefinite period.
PROCRASTINATION is an EXCUSE for WAITING.
